We are raising vital funds to help my partner Taylor get a wheelchair read his story below.
(or skip to the donation options at the bottom of the page, his story will be shared in the yoga class)

Taylor is my partner, he is neurodivergent (is autistic and has ADHD), he grew up living in and still is in poverty in very rough area of London, Taylor's mum is physically disabled and has long term chronic health conditions meaning she cannot work.

In October 2022 me and Taylor (Taylor only being 19 years old at the time) were up at the skatepark skating around when all of a sudden Taylor dropped to the ground in pain shouting that he had heard a loud bang in his knee. Taylor had to be carried to the car park by me and member of the public. Taylor went to A&E at the hospital a couple days later, where he experienced massive medical neglect. Taylor was told he had to wait for an X-ray which took an entire year, during that time Taylor was not given anything for support other than some pain relief. Taylor was forced to walk on the knee with no support other than his mother's mobility cane and with no knowledge of what had happened to him.

The X-ray was finally done a year later and they had to send Taylor into surgery to investigate further, during this surgery they realised Taylor had suffered with a teared meniscus that had been torn fully due to the fact he had to weight bare on it for an entire year, during the same surgery Taylor's meniscus was fully removed leaving him with no cushioning in his knee.

Afterwards the doctor's that performed the surgery and the orthopaedic team he spoke to didn't even bother to explain to Taylor who again is neurodivergent and struggles with understanding that he was now physically disabled and that he may need certain mobility aids and support etc. They explained to him that he will likely develop arthritis and will now have to live with chronic long term pain but offered no further investigation into why it happened and gave him very minimal support. He received physio afterwards but obviously because he had no cushioning left in his knee the physio saw little to no improvement and he was discharged from the orthopaedic team.

Before Taylor's injury he worked as a bar man in a local pub since the age of 16, he also did a multi trades course at college so he could do manual labour work. He loved being active, doing any kind of sport from parkour to basketball and would always be skating everywhere. Taylor struggles hugely due to his neurodivergence, he struggles to learn, process and retain information. On top of this he has lived a life of trauma, addiction, neglect and poverty.

Taylor now 21 is stuck at home each day in severe pain with only a mobility aid to get around the house and an electric scooter which breaks down a lot that can get him to the shop or his friends house. Taylor cannot work and again was neglected by the Universal Credit team (a government entity part of the Department for work and pensions). They failed to recognise the severity of Taylor's conditions making him apply for jobs which he never hears back from due to his disabilities and failed to recognise that due to Taylor's neurodivergence its very hard for him to work an office job or anything that isn't physical manual labour. As a result Taylor has been applying to several jobs on a weekly basis for the past couple years and hasn't heard anything back.

We are also now having problems with Taylor being able to receive benefits and get any recognition/support from the government for his disability despite not physically or mentally being able to work.

This is also why I am doing this fundraiser, I want to raise funds to help Taylor get a self propelled wheelchair to help him get around more, access certain buildings he couldn't due to having an electric scooter which isn't accepted on premises, so I can take Taylor on trips out and long walks. Ultimately to just bring some more hope and support into Taylor's life after all he has been through.
